Ren Faire Tunic

Class Description

Skill Level: Beginner. Students should be comfortable operating a sewing machine and sewing a straight stitch. Prerequisite Intro to Sewing class or equivalent. Whether you’re prepping for the Ren Faire, getting into character for your next DnD night, or you just love the Hero of Hyrule, come learn how to make a simple historically inspired tunic! Students will make a custom pattern based on their own measurements, and learn techniques for applying a facing and hemming a garment. Tunics can be long or short sleeved, and there will be multiple options for neckline design. In this class students will learn: -How to create a simple pattern based on body measurements -How to finish seams with pinking shears or a zig zag stitch -How to hem -How to apply a facing and topstitch Materials List: -2 - 3 yards of woven (non-stretch) fabric such as cotton, linen, and wool. This is a flexible project and students can use lighter fabrics for a soft look, or heavier materials to make rugged outerwear.
