Ren Faire Chemise

Class Description

Skill Level: Beginner. Students should be comfortable operating a sewing machine and sewing a straight stitch. Prerequisite Intro to Sewing class or equivalent. Craft the chemise of your Ren Faire or cottagecore dreams! Students will make a simple gathered chemise that can be worn under a skirt or on its own as a dress. The length of the chemise body and sleeves can be customized. Elastic will be used to gather the sleeve cuffs and neckline, which can be worn on or off the shoulder. In this class students will learn: -How to create a simple pattern based on body measurements -How to finish seams with pinking shears or a zig zag stitch -How to sew a double fold hem -Two methods for creating elastic channels Materials needed: - 2 to 3 yards of woven (non-stretch) fabric such as light or medium weight cotton or linen. Fabric needs will depend on the desired length of chemise, and the desired amount of gathering.
